Asus P5LD2-VM Socket 775 Motherboard Review

Overview:
The ASUS P5LD2-VM is a Micro-ATX motherboard with four DDR2 memory slots supporting a total of 8 GB of dual channel memory. It has a PCI Express x16 slot and two PCI slots. It has 7.1 channel onboard audio, gigabyte ethernet, and rather limited GMA950 onboard graphics. For gaming purposes, expect to use the PCI express x16 slot. For less graphically intensive purposes, it's probably fine with the almost-free onboard video.

The Asus PSLD2-VM is a fine and inexpensive motherboard for the casual user and the business user.

The input/output area of the P5LD2-VM motherboard is populated by 4 USB 2.0 ports, a Parallel port, a COM1 port, a D-Sub port, a RJ45 jack for the Gigabit LAN and 6 audio jacks for the onboard audio. The audio jacks include a Rear Speaker Out, a Side Speaker Out, and a Line In, a Line Out, a Subwoofer and a Microphone port. Onboard audio is provided by a Realtek ALC882M chip. This chip supports Intel's High Definition Audio standard, offering 7.1 surround sound and 192 KHz/24-bit audio support.
