ECS KN1 SLI Extreme Socket 939 Motherboard Review

Overview:
The ECS KN1 SLI Extreme is a Socket 939 ATX motherboard supporting the AMD Athlon 64, Athlon 64 X2, Sempron, and Athlon 64FX CPU's. It has 4 DDR DIMM slots supporting up to 4 GB of dual-channel memory. It includes gigabit ethernet, a dual PCI Express x16 slot, 8-channel audio, SATA RAID levels 0, 1, and 0+1, as well as 3 PCI slots. This board comes with an onboard fan covering the CPU/MOSFET area and using the space normally taken by parallel and serial ports.

The KN1 SLI Extreme supports the budget single core and outstanding dual-core X2 AMD chips and comes with a fair amount of software in addition to a nice hardware bundle:

ECS really went all-out on the bundle for the KN1-SLI motherboard. Hardware-wise, the board comes with 4 SATA cables, and an External SATA bracket, bringing the total up to 5. The 2 USB/1 Firewire bracket brings the total of both supported by the board to 6 and 2 respectively. There are 3 USB headers on the board, allowing for up to 10 total USB ports without an additional card.
